Clare Morell is a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, in theBioethics, Technology and Human Flourishing Program. She is also the author of the award-winning book,The Tech Exit: A Practical Guide to Freeing Kids and Teens from Smartphones, published by Penguin Random House. Prior to joining EPPC, Ms. Morell worked in both the White House Counsel’s Office and the Department of Justice, as well as in the private and non-profit sectors.
Ms. Morell has had opinion pieces published in numerous outlets, including theWall Street Journal, The Washington Post,Fox News,Bloomberg News, The New York Post,Newsweek, National Review,First Things,National Affairs, The Hill,The Federalist,WORLD Magazine,and TheDaily Signal, among others. Ms. Morell has testified before Congress and her policy work has also been featured inThe New York Times. She has also appeared on Fox News and other news networks, been featured by Big Think, and appeared on numerous podcasts, including the Allie Beth Stuckey show. Ms. Morell frequently consults with legislators and government officials on technology policy and has helped draft pivotal legislation to protect children online that has been passed in numerous states.
Ms. Morell received a bachelor of science in foreign service degree from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she majored in Science, Technology, and International Affairs. She graduatedPhi Beta Kappa and summa cum laudeand received the Edmund A. Walsh Award for academic achievement in international law. Ms. Morell lives with her husband and their three children in Washington, D.C.
