Meet the Host
Shane Morris
Shane Morris is a husband, father, and writer whose mind and imagination were nourished by Gulf Coast sunshine, live oak trees, and strong, early doses of C.S. Lewis. Shane has roots in Tampa, Florida, where he grew up homeschooled, surrounded by natural beauty, animals familiar and exotic, and a big, loving, Baptist family. The oldest of five siblings, Shane thrived outdoors, in speech and debate, and with an open sketch pad while listening to “Adventures in Odyssey.” His love of God’s handiwork often takes him underwater, where he SCUBA dives for fossils and encounters with marine life.
Shane earned his bachelor’s in humanities from Thomas Edison State College and is currently studying part-time toward his MATS at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is a senior writer at the Colson Center and host of the Upstream podcast, and has been a voice of the ministry since 2010 when he interned under Chuck Colson. He has also written for WORLD, The Gospel Coalition, The Federalist, The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and Summit Ministries. Shane lives in Lakeland, Florida with his wife, Gabriela, and their four children. They attend Christ Community Presbyterian Church.

Come upstream with us in search of a worldview that is bigger and older
On Sunday, we hear that every facet of life matters to God, and is an opportunity to worship. But on Monday, we meet jobs, diapers, confusing headlines… and one of the most important questions we can ask: How does my story fit into God’s Story?
On Upstream, we show you. Because God has placed the answers everywhere, calling us to a life that seeks His glory at every turn—and for 2,000 years, Christians have been finding them.
You’ll learn:
- Why so many church leaders thought you had to observe nature to understand God
- What we can learn from the Christian storytelling tradition about passing on the faith
- How “secular” vocations can be a pathway to worship
- How Christ’s incarnation fulfills a story built into the world from the beginning
